This group of women use the foot pedal loom (telar de pie) to weave fabric to sell in order to help earn money for their families. This video shows some of the steps before the actual weaving. Education And More, a Christian Fair Trade organization, works with this group to help them sell their fabric and weavings.

Take an educational weaving tour to Guatemala and learn to weave on a backstrap loom! Weaving lessons, backstrap loom, travel and sightseeing in the Lake Atitlan area, visit Mayan artisans homes and much more. See our website at:

  • :56 That must be the world's largest warping board!

  • They use it when planning to weave 10-20 yards of fabric. It is incredible to see in action!

  • Amazing!

  • @educationmore what a great vid thanks i love watching people from all over the world weaving and spinning :] hard working people!

  • 1:01 Counted rows of thread on the upright facing camera. There are 18, or 17 1/4 revolutions- the one at the bottom is the cross, & only goes to the peg at lower-right. Judging from the size of the woman [about 4' 10" -- 5' ?], each side of the warping reel is about 4 feet. That means that each trip around the warping reel is between 12 & 16 feet. The entire warp, by my calculation, measures between 69 & 92 yards.

    17.25 x 16' = 276' / 3 = 92 yards

    17.25 x 12' = 207' / 3 = 69 yards

  • wow all people want to not see this O.O
