This is a gun I'd love to hate. Seriously. It has some issues to be sure. Its blowback operation makes the gun ungainly, heavy, and bulky. The Hi-Point C9 9mm weighs 32 oz and other calibers weigh even more. And for that weight you only get a single stack 8 round magazine. That's some real sucky firepower fort that weight and size. Yikes dude, yikes. Add in a horrible trigger, slick grips, a thick slide, a tedious fieldstrip, and "kerchunking" recoil impulse and you have the makings for a disaster of a gun. And like many things in life you will have to dig deeper than an outside look to find the beauty of the Hi-Points. Only through a determined testing regime did I end up respecting the Hi-Point pistols. Initially some failures ensued (shown) and along with the horrific ergonomics, started my personal downward spiral of hate for the design. And yet I perservered in the test...there had to be some redemption for this pistol. There was. Subsequent outings in the Hi-Point C9 (after an easy parts replacement) made reliability 100% with all ammo types tried. And then there was the accuracy. The non-tilting barrel hit steel and paper with regularity and consistency. Other Hi-Point pistols were also shot for this review and they too were very accurate. The high viz adjustable sights help and allow for POI corrections. With these guns running 100%, the value factor on the Hi-Point pistols is smokin'. And if they're not, take advantage of the lifetime warranty given by Beemiller on their guns...they'll take care of the problem. So like Cort in the movie the "Quick and the Dead," this just might have to be your option for self-protection. You won't win any cool points at the range or the cinema, but these guns shoot straight, reliabily, and could save your life./////////////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 3 out of 10 cost NOT considered, 8 out of 10 cost considered/////////////////Music licensed to TNP from Jason Shaw

  • i have that movie in my basement but never bothered to open it and watch it

  • I don't care much for this gun. With that said, for $130 it is heads above anything else even close to that price range. Also the magazine safety is very simple to remove

  • stupid title,i wish i could hate this gun.

  • hey, when you run out of ammo, you can throw it at your opponent! LOL

  • I'm impressed Nut'n, you are an honest person. I see you review gear that is way out of my pay grade, but then you bring in the moderate and I buy what I can. Then you bring out this piece and I go "WHAT!" Then you give it a truly honest review. I'd been thinking about getting a few for the WHAT IF scenario and now I'm sold on getting them.

  • A very fair and accurate review of this gun. Great job. Thanks.

  • Thanks for an excellent and very accurate review of this gun.

  • Id go with that Ruger for a few dollars more... one more month of saving and the min wage man has it. I like hi point, I owned a 45ACP and it was a good handgun, but it was ugly etc. all my friends had Rugers, Beretta's, etc. so I wanted something nice. I got trade credit for $200 on my .45 which IMO is a steal on a Glock 19. I am now debating buying a 9mm hi-point to fire with my Glock.

  • Having to send away for a replacement part right from the get-go of this review does not speak "highly" of its' quality, workmanship and reliability. Not to mention, damn fugly lol. Bottom line: You get what you pay for. In this case, a chunk-o-junk : / Great price though, and as always excellent review NUTNFANCY.

  • i like the carbine also, its accurate .thanks for tell it the way it is.
