People will have their own favorites, and some naturally choose covers over originals. That said, not being a fan of country songs, especially the "twangy" type, I'd say I prefer the original. Pat Monahan sings with soul, and David Nail's version seems to lack character.

@Amberlalaful there is no real meaning really. A former member in the band suggested it and it stuck.

what is the meaning behind their name, Train??

@attist178 the band kinda broke apart for thos five to go and do their own work. like Pat monahan (the lead singer) made his own album "the last of seven" and went on tour to premote it.

@vol5198 When I said disappeared, I meant they pretty much fell off the face of the earth for like, 5 years. They're back now, but nothing they ever write again will be another "Meet Virginia" for me.

@Daisychain523 Nashville, right? If so, I think they filmed it during a tour stop in Nashville in 2003. As far as I know this "video" only appeared on the "My Private Nation" dual disc (CD/DVD) that was released after the original launch of the album. One side has audio only and the other is the audio as well as some video they took during the "My Private Nation" tour in 2003. There's some rare stuff on there.
Amazing song.
But who did this first?

Train did. It's their song; David Nail did the cover version.
