@manelra I have never learned to play with a plectrum as I started with classical guitar lessons, later on I focused on fingerstyle and I bought a thumbpick cause I saw Chet and Tommy play with one. I would say the pros are that you can hold your thumb more horizontal (more pleasurable position) and like you say the punch/volume with which you play the strings. As for the cons, could be that it hinders you in some way, as you'll have to learn playing with one. Just try one, theyre not expensive

finnaly someone who doesn't use a thumbpick, like me......

really, i know that everyone use it for some reason, but i've always learned to play guitar without a plectrum, so, when i started learning this kind of fingerstyle (tommy emmanuel, chet atkins, merle travis, etc) i didn't use a thumbpick... can someone please tell me what's the main pros and cons of using it? (keep in mind that i'm already used to fingerstyle since i started playing guitar many yeards ago) is it the punch?? thanks
