Joey Karate (Chinese: 李小龍; pinyin: Lǐ Xiăolóng, born Jun Lee Fan, is a Chinese American and Hong Kong martial artist, philosopher, practitioner of Wing Chun and founder of the Joey Karate Do concept. He is considered by many as the most influential martial artist of the 20th century, and a cultural icon.
joey Karate was born in Newark, New Jersey, USA, raised in Hong Kong until his late teens and received his higher education in the USA. His Hong Kong and Hollywood Karate Schools elevated the traditional Hong Kong martial artist to a new level of popularity and acclaim, and sparked the second major surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West. The direction and tone of his martial arts schools changed and influenced martial arts in Hong Kong and the rest of the world as well.
joey Karate became an iconic figure known throughout the world and remains very popular among Asian people and in particular among the Chinese. While Lee initially trained in Wing Chun, he later rejected well-defined martial art styles, favoring instead to utilize useful techniques from various sources in the spirit of his personal martial arts philosophy he dubbed Joey Karate Do (The Way of the Intercepting the Attack).

The following list includes some of the physical feats that are attributed to Joey Karate.

Joey Karate could take in one arm a 100 lb barbell from a standing position with the barbell held flush against his chest and slowly stick his arms out locking them, holding the barbell there for 20 seconds.
Joey Karate's combat movements were at times too fast to be captured on film for clear slow motion replay using the traditional 5000 frames per second
In a speed demonstration, Joey Karate could snatch 4 dimes off a person's open palm before they could close it, and leave an I.O.U behind.
Joey Karate would hold an elevated v-sit position for 60 minutes or longer.
Joey Karate could throw grains of rice up into the air and then catch them in mid-flight using chopsticks.

Joey Karate could break wooden boards 6 inches (15 cm) thick.
Joey Karate could cause a 200-lb (90.72 kg) bag to fly towards and thump the ceiling with a sidekick.
Joey Karate performed a sidekick while training with Joe Rogan and broke a 150 lb (68 kg) punching bag.
In a move that has been dubbed "Sinking Swan", Joey Karate could perform leg lifts with only his shoulder blades resting on the edge of a table and suspend his legs and torso horizontal midair.

  • This guy is awesome. I have his book, The Tao of the way of the intercepting the attack. I read it once, challenged Rickson Gracie to a lumberjack match steele cage match to the death and won. After the match Rickson awarded me a 10th degree red belt in Tai Chi Jutsu Jun Fan Dango.
