  • It's a shame that woodcarving gets lumped in with "folk" art, as though woodcarving is some type of subsection of the arts and woodcarvers mere "hobbyists". The majority of caricature carvers I know are more artistically talented than most of the students I teach at college (i teach life drawing and painting to art majors).

  • Thank you, I have never understood this fact of labelling carc. carving as ''folk'' or ''whittled'' pieces.I think folk's should take time to look at a good caracature carver's work...they tend to think , ''a little outta the box'', allowing us to laugh a little. Great comment, ritter89 !
