I know I'm going to piss some people off here; but this is equivalent to writing a song called "Bach" and then farting into a microphone for ten minutes.
I think anyone with a handful of synthesizers, a trace of musical talent, a computer, and some time to kill could have produced this.

@maxismax1 no! this wouldn't BE here without beck / the fiery furnaces / radiohead!
eyah!

@rodeomonkey84 You chat bollocks. This wouldn't be hear without Partch.

this is relatively brilliant. Very few people have both pop song writing skills and experimental music compositional chops, as well.....very few.
Beck utterly impressed me with this..it's at times harmonically and rhythmically very complex.
The questionables who post things like "this is horrible" or "Partch wouldn't like this" or whatever other inane comments they offer up.......I would love to see what they've done in life, thus far.

Partch suuuuuuuucks compared to this
beck just basically out Partch'd parch and made it INSANELY FUN
people pretend there is music like this out there but there isn't really much at all
stuff like zappa or residents SUCKS compared to this
and people think they are so good or fun but they really are just bullplop
BECK IS THE REAL DEAL
and this is SO good!!!!!!!
wish he'd make more like this even a full album
just twisting all over the place but being really fun too and variety not shit!

@chatzimcfee wikipedia isn't the official "mainstream" declarer, mainstream means everyone and their grandma knows who they are, like ozzy, madonna, kanye west... doesn't have anything to do with pop, that's the MAIN stream (as the word's etymology infers). most ppl i meet don't know who beck is by name, but they all know "loser"of course. i frustratingly rarely find others that are as familiar with him as me, but he's got a strong, cult-like following, and i like that better.

@xis10ce I'm not going to argue with you anymore after this. taken from wikipedia "In March 1994, Geffen released Beck's major label debut, Mellow Gold. The album, created with Bong Load's Rothrock and Schnapf, as well as Carl Stephenson, turned Beck into a mainstream success." You don't know what mainstream means. you are confusing it with pop. mainstream doesn't mean pop.

@chatzimcfee he's sold a few records, and i LOVE me some beck, but he's not "mainstream", like britney spears, or justin bieber, or j. lo, do you even know what that word means? i'm not the one dreaming, i think you need to be in touch...with a dictionary. and look up "mainstream".
THIS IS MADNESS
