my mf characterr on nonladder is a light sorc and she does 24k and has 521 mf and i get pretty decent drops

Non ladder in ladder if your a noob your going to cry because its not like non ladder where people rush for free and you can get free enigma and hrs by making friends and in ladder shit is 10x harder to find and less expensive like shakos in ladder are only lem while in non ladder there 1hr and getting 1hr off mfing is simple as shit

that mf char probably sucks. i's impossible for you to kill any boss on hell.
a good mf char is a balance between skills and mf.
i think you should get around 400 mf and after that concentrate on skill charms and such

Even over 600 or so is overkill, because having more usually means sacrificing survivability. So, if you have 1004, my only guess is you either have a lot of small charms, or you die very quickly.

For a new player should I start in Non ladder or ladder?

there is no difference in difficulty, but there are items you can only find with ladder-chars. and you can upgrade runes from el - zod in ladder you are caped at hel or something like that non-ladder i think.
