Hornady Critical Defense .40 S&W 165 gr FTX: SIM-TEST* w/denim

Simple penetration and expansion test of the Hornady .40 165 gr FTX hollowpoint, using a diluted form of SIM-TEST Ballistic Testing Media. This format is comparable to ballistic gel, and includes four layers of denim. Video includes brief overview of the cartridge, recoil shots, and one shot test. Post-shot evaluation shows bullet path through the block, average diameter, and retained weight.

VERY IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING AMMO TESTS ON THIS CHANNEL:

Early on, I used wetpack for ammo testing, with or without denim. Beginning in 2011 I use SIM-TEST calibrated to ballistic gel specs plus 4 layers of denim. The denim is an IWBA standard simulating the density of heavy clothing. Please understand that these techniques are merely representations to indicate possible ballistics; they are not intended to replicate real-world street results. Even by adding bone, additional clothing, etc., there are just too many factors involved in a self-defense scenario to offer a 100% degree of accuracy when compared to street results. Thanks for posting bro. I keep this very ammo in my CC pistol, and had fired it at the range, but never really knew the effects of the intended target. I had seen the hornady promo video, but they didn't post the same effects on the target as you. I love seeing the tissue tearing capabilities and the effects on the gel. I'm much more glad to have this particular round both in my CC weapon and also in my home defense weapons.

wish you would have shot some more rounds tho. One bullet doesn't make it an accurate test. I know you said early in the video that you haven't fired "dozens of rounds" even. all im getting at is yes, that round looks great, but Im not sold unless I see more. haha

How many rounds did your fire to test the round to make sure it functions in your firearm? I tested this ammo with my XDm .40 and I would get a FTF every couple of rounds, the rubber tip would cause the bullet to get stuck on the feed ramp, I notice you are using a Glock, any problems???
