You do not speak the truth only young Amish woman teach, and you cant be almost Amish you are or you arent. I work with the plain folk and and am neighbors with several, lived in Nickle Mines for 30yrs

It what it is- i was almost amish in the sence that i lived amongst them and like them for a number of years- and yes i did have the honor of teaching in one of their schools- thank you, Stasburg parochial to be exact- ask someone who knows the teachers that have been there before you accuse me of being a liar- what religion are you that would judge or accuse so quickly?

Beautiful people, happy friendly peaceful loving innocent children ,minding their own business, doing their own work, building, teaching, not hurting a soul and some creep comes in to spoil it... it just makes me sick-

That day broke my heart . I prayed and prayed that it was not true the media had it wrong ... it was true and my heart goes out to the parents and the children they are angels now. The parents the Armish people forgave the man who did this horrible killing. Me I love the people and to this day will never forget what happened. Beautiful people, if only the whole world was like them and we lived like that. Life would be better. God Bless you all.

@TheHilljac Thanks, I'm glad to hear that that was your experience. There have been a lot of reports about stuff like that and I have a concern for women and children in closed types of societies especially. Out in the mainstream, we like to think we have options and the ability to leave a bad situation, however, the more I learn, the more I realize that no matter how "fair" & open & "safety netted" a society is, there are still hurdles of all kinds for those who are threatened.

@mka800 Is the act of rape and whipping small children til they bleed influence from Satan? Because, that happens in the Amish a lot. If a woman is raped, it is HER fault. If she becomes pregnant by her rapist, she is forced to marry him. I'd like to respect their convictions and strengths... but, I can no longer do that, knowing how cold blooded they really are.

i saw th movie 'amish grace' today. it really moved me. it makes me grateful to be alive and living here in nashville, tennessee. may almighty god bless them for their bravery. nice video.
