What a touching tribute for your friend...I to have a 15 yr old friend who's facing his final challenges...I know I will miss him. But regardless he will be with me always.....as your dog is with you.....in your heart

Baxter, you are a man's man. Anybody who is that feeling towards his dog is a good man. I have had a few dogs in my life which I miss dearly. Anyone who says dogs don't have emotional feelings or can't feel love is missing a major part of life. God bless you Baxter.

I have been following you for more than 20 years, your writings got me thru veterinary school with a smile on my face, or a different perspective I had not seen before. Proud to count you among my colleagues. Very touching tribute.

In 35 years, my husband and I have had six wonderful dogs as companions. Our 15 and 20 year olds died last year.  Now we have a little two year old and it's like having a baby in the house again. Thanks for sharing about your dog.
