@sparky42 There will be a real apocalypse. The end of 2012 the dollar will be pretty much worthless. The book of the revelations talks about the four horsemen of the apocalypse. We will be facing the rider of the black horse pretty soon. As well as the other riders. If you don't believe me look up lindsey williams (the beginning of the end) dvd. You can watch it on youtube.

The apocalypse?? Just what makes you think that you will survive? Won't all the good people get roasted?

Thanks for the info . I just started collecting but I will be honest with you. If there was a real apocalypse and people were like mutants running around the streets starving and trading coins for food , well guess what , I'm bringing out my lead collection and me and mister colt are going hunting for food and supply's. . I also started investing in chain link fencing and barbed wire a few years ago and that is coming along nicely.

I don't think hedge313 has anything more to add to his original comment. I think he just wants my small stock of Kennedy clads! :)

@rickpyle1 ... I'm still waiting for hedge313's rebuttal
The thing you are forgetting is the 40% coins are good for making change, or purchasing something that is of lesser value than a 90% coin.
just because something has less value than something else, does not mean it is worthless
grant it i would not buy a 40% coin, but i find enough of them for free coin roll hunting

@cmillvlogs If you are still finding the 40% halves for free - kudos to you! I like the 90% because they're easy to explain to the dimmest bulb - USA dimes, quarters, halves dated 1964 and before. Anything after that just muddies the water for newbies.

I agree. I picked the title for shock value. Silver and gold do well as trade items when there is at least a basic form of law and order. Trading posts needs to grow and do business without being robbed, looted, and burned. In human history we've gone through some rough times, but we've always been able to eventually restore enough law to promote the growth of trade. Zombies just want brains, not silver dollars!

Great video on crappy Silver. I'm still trying to figure out why the Govt. Ever made a coin with 40% Silver. Was there a reason. I mean a reason that makes cents, haha.

@hotheadedjoelhaha The 90% silver coins were discontinued due to the rising price of silver, as well as other sinister economic / political factors, However, it was thought that removing all the silver from the new Kennedy half minted in remembrance of the assassinated President would be unpopular. As a compromise, the 40% silver clad was born in 1965 and continued to be minted through 1970. In 1971, all silver content was removed from Kennedy halves minted for circulation.
