RIP - Chief Ralph Painter, Rainier Police Chief

RAINIER, Ore. -- Rainier's chief of police was shot and killed Wednesday during a struggle with a man in Rainier, a small Oregon town along the Columbia River.

Ralph Painter, 55, was responding to a morning disturbance call at a car audio shop on Rock Crest Street. Painter got into a struggle with the suspect, 21-year-old Daniel Armaugh Butts of Kalama, Wash., at the Sound Authority just before 11 a.m. and was shot. Painter later died from a gunshot wound at a hospital in Longview.

I caught this in Saint Helen Oregon, as the Columbia County police officers were escorting the body of fallen Rainier Police Chief Ralph Painter back to Rainier on Jan 6th.

Thank you for posting this video but it would be much better and show a lot more respect for the fallen cheif if you would get his name right. The cheifs name was Ralph. Daniel is the kid that shot him, GET IT RIGHT!

Thanks for the video. We get up every morning, kiss our family and do everything to get back home to them safely. Chief Painter didn't make it home, but his family will see him again someday. Thank you for your service brother.
