@shess0501 looks like he saved it from damage by protecting it from the rocks with his head.
(very quick thinking!)

hammer and nail (his head and the glider)

...pilot needed to get hands well up the
uprights; had hands very close to or
on the base tube.

I agree

Looks like someone flared way to early! OuCH! hope he is alright though.

woweee...sooo lucky he had a full face coverage on....or, guess he was prepared...nice slow mo

I can agree with the high sink rate + he flared the hang glider to high above ground. Good hes ok =)

OW! Are you OK dude? OMG! :*(

It looks like he got picked up by low turbulence last minute, which lifted the nose, rather than his excessive rounding-out input.
I agree his pitch input wasn't sufficient to save it: what I think he needed to do was respond -get his shoulders down and weight forward (bar in)- quickly, rather than staying upright as he gained height.
But it's very tough to bring yourself to do that, I imagine, because the same rough air that picked you up could slam you down next second.
Good analysis video.
Ouch. Hope everyone was OK. So you get bounced up by a thermal when rounding out to trim on final. What's the correct thing to do? Pull in and try to get enough speed for another ground effect?

The pilot was shaken up but ok. There was some discussion about this on my 'how to land' video so I uploaded this extended footage at a higher resolution to analyze. Seems the pilot had lots of airspeed and a high decent rate on approach, got behind on rounding out and with the ground coming up fast, over-corrected in pitch causing him to balloon up, but didn't follow up with aggressive enough pitch inputs to control the ballooning and also couldn't flare with his right hand on the basetube.
