Clementine-
So I sculpted your bust from sweat and from stone,
And hoisted it in the air, with my love in mind to prove.
But it's beauty fell short with you in comparison
Oh my dear sweet Clementine, to you i'll always be true.
So I strung up the stars to spell out your name
How it shown, eclipsing the nights royal blue.
But then the wind came and whisked it away,
Oh my dear sweet Clementine, I would've always loved you.
Cause then you took to the helm of another man's lust,
And the prophecies of so many wiser then me came true
For my friends forewarned me of this day,
Oh my dear sweet Clementine, Why would you?
You drowned my happiness in a lake up near paso
And ran my sorrows bar tab through the roof.
And now I shiver at the mention of your name,
Oh my damn perfect Clementine, How could you? Why would you?
What are bones, but shelter to our organs?
What are organs, but minions to our minds?
What's our mind, but slave to our heart?
Whats my heart, now that its finally free of you?
So I drew all my memories of you on the sand
And cheered that reaper, the tide, to take you away
But even with all its destructive glory,
Your hold on my head, Clementine, remained.
So I gathered my thoughts of you and I set them ablaze
Laughed wildly, even sadistically, at the flames.
With the hopes that they'd finally keep you at bay
Oh your hold on my head, Clementine, remained.
So I collected our reveries, threw them under the floorboards,
But it seems that my skin's forever stained,
Cause just like the man with the vulture's eye, I could hear your heart beat,
Oh your hold on my head, Clementine, remained.
So I took your reflection, the last you in contention,
And realized your not one and the same
The you that I miss, is not the you that exists.
Oh your hold on my head, Clementine, no longer remains.
What are bones, but shelter to our organs?
What are organs, but minions to our minds?
What's our mind, but slave to our heart?
Whats my heart, now that its finally free of you? x4
I came across this last night when you uploaded it (not sure why I'm subscribed to your channel, but I didn't mind after hearing this) and have had the "chorus" stuck in my head all night. I love the lyrics, the melody, almost everything about this song, but I kept expecting an actual SINGING verse. Nothing against spoken word, but this song lacks just that little extra something that an actual singing voice would serve. i do very much like the shouting voice in the back, though.
