2004 Chevy Silverado Speedometer Removal

How to remove a speedometer (instrument cluster) from a 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 GM truck. Needed to repair the issues (speedometer hanging up and sticky pointers) caused by the bad stepper motors that drive each gauge.

Similar vehicles include 03, 04, 05, 06 Chevrolet or GMC truck, Yukon, Denali, Suburban, Escalade, Bravada, Tahoe, Avalanche, Canyon, Envoy, Jimmy, G-Series Van, Yukon, Denali.

Hey i got a question i have a couple lights burnt out of my radio and if i was to take out the radio would i be able to change the light bulbs? The dealer wants like 275 for a new radio and they said that you cant change the light bulbs you have to get a new radio which i find hard to believe?

This guy is a dick head, sure they will tell you how to remove the cluster, any moron can do that especially after watching the vid.

But ask a question about a simple thing like removing a needle and they will simply tell you that's for us to know and you to pay us to do...

To characterize the video as spam seems a little extreme. The video delivers exactly what's promised by the title and description. I'm sorry we weren't able to answer your question, but most people who attempt this repair themselves wind up breaking the gauge needles - resulting in a more costly repair. There are other videos and resources available should you decide to go the DIY route, we're just not one of them.

The speedometer in my 2005 Chevy Suburban started sticking and jumping after we turned 108,000 miles. During a 70 mile trip it read 40 mph when I was going 65. I took it to my local garage and they suggested replacing the speedo sensor on the transmission, but admitted that it was a rule-out strategy, and they told me that one of their employees was having trouble with his truck and the dealership told him that the entire instrument cluster needed to be replaced for $1000. Quick Question for anyone here, I am putting in aftermarket gauges by splicing them into the instrument cluster wires.  Already have the tach in but i don't know what colour or pin number any other gauges are. does anyone know any of these?

chevy isnt what it use to be every chevy around 02-08 has messed up gauges chevy knew about it but didnt do anything about it
