  • I'm torn on this issue. On the one hand, I know that socialized medicine is a nightmare, in spite of what the fat ass Michael Moore depicts in his film, and on the other hand, I hate every doctor that I've ever met. Socialized medicine would mean a pay decrease for them, which would be awsome. Sure, the quality of health care will decline, but who cares? Let the strong survive. Also, it may make the idea of dating a lawyer even more attractive. Lawyers rule.

  • Most people in the states have never experienced living in a nation where socialized medicine is the norm...hence the fear and distrust of it.

I've been in the UK for about six years now. I've got my doctor here, I've had the occasional consultation with specialists, had my eyes tested and my teeth cleaned every six months.

It's really not so different from the states, except prescriptions are cheap and no medical bills.

  • I love it when people whine about others supposedly whining about Healthcare.

Yet the outcry isn't there when the government wastes money and is robbing the American people by bailing out Financial institutions and giving money out to Power companies and old cronies like the current administration is but when the people want and deserve something it's us asking for something..

I'd call that our tax money at work for us. I know it's hard to understand but try a little.

  • i expect good public schools for children to attend... why is it so impossible for you to see something as basic as healthcare to be available to everyone as well?

you call it whining, i call it taking a stand.

  • You must understand that NOTHING is free! NOTHING.... The government can only GIVE you things that they TAKE FROM OTHER PEOPLE. (We call that STEALING)

Grow up and take care of yourself.

  • I'm back living in the UK. Taxes are higher here, but I can also sleep at night knowing that if anything happened to somebody I love, or even myself, that they would be taken care of. I don't think you can put a price on that! Although pharmaceutical companies in America would like to.

  • I think peoples' comments on here are ridiculous. Health plans are screwing so many people over because they don't cover what they should, and it isn't fair because people are people and we all need help and care if and when we get sick.

    Great vid ;)

  • The problem in the US is the gov. had a protectionist stance by safeguarding large corporations. Either by subsidizing research, reducing taxes, promoting oligopolies etc.

Your phone companies are a perfect example of this. Now that the gov. deregulated it, there is a huge supply of providers thereby reducing the cost. Cable companies are coming around. It's too late for the US car industry which got away with selling overpriced big hunks of junk because the gov protected them for so long.

  • we dont look at the political nature of the healthcare it could be communist lol. we live life and realise at times you need and you should not worry if you can pay you pay a little tax towards it from pay slip but not much for piece of mind thanks for an american point of view come to england well do your blood work

  • "it's not about money... it's a human right.."

The problem with this thinking is that true rights are free. They cost no one any money at all. If something costs $, it's not a right.

Money literally is part of our lives we choose to give up to EARN that money. And when some expect others to PAY for false rights like health care for those who have NOT EARNED or budgeted enough for their own care, that is by definition tyranny, slavery. That's what the UK has.

Health care is not a right.

  • i'll fill you cavities..no wait you heffer ,that i won't drill like black and decker

  • That is interesting, I thought the govt ran program has not come into effect yet. Hope everything works out for you.

  • I'm living in Australia where people make profits and have a national health care system. You do realize that it is possible to have both, right? As for your previous statement about the state taking "excess" to provide another's health care: what is wrong with that? The state frequently takes your money to invade other countries and kill people. You don't mind that? Why do some people go crazy the minute you talk about using their tax dollars to help a fellow man? What am I missing here?

  • I hope it is you dieing a long and agonizing death that leaves your family homeless and dispossest in the near future.

  • Thanks for your insight, My hubby's insurance deductible was so outrageous we decided to drop the kids off the insurance and put them on government ran insurance because it was too expensive. Plus the insurance would just refuse payment on medical service for any reason from you didn't take this questionnaire to we think your homeowner's insurance should pay for you injured knee because you fell at home. So I know how hard it can be dealing with rich insurance companies. we need human rights.

  • My god your.....your gggorgeous.

  • so would you make a profit on human life, having the power over to give life or take it away from others? come on man that's just fucked up. i'm all for profits on food and service and etc but not on human life.

  • When Capitalism was yet to have labor laws to protect the workers, it was fair game to work everyone to the bone, including CHILDREN. Now it is the same but moved overseas. Corporations set up offices outside the US which allows them to avoid paying huge tax payments, and they get away with it. And the CEO's keep millions in bonuses and yearly income, even when they bankrupt the company he/she works for! Sounds like heaven?! HELL no
