left and right is an over simplification.
How about having 2 axis:
1 axis is control of government. On one side is absolutely no government regulation and on the other is complete regulation of all industries.
the other axis is personal issues. On one side is the government dictates everything you're allowed to do to the other side is that the government allows you to do anything you want as long as you're not infringing on somebody else's rights.
left and right = false dichotomy.

that is a phony argument, all the way to the left is not 100% government control, and all the way to the right is very much governmental control. It is the far right who tries to impose their morals on the rest of us, even trying to pass laws telling others what they can do.
