Piston trap, impossible to escape, that suffocates the player.
THIS VIDEO HAS NO SOUND.

Here some advice:

Only 1 piston per pressure plate is neccesary.
In multiplayer, due to lag, consider adding multiple pressure plates and pistons.

In this example I used five but they are really not necessary.

Notice that the shaft is three blocks tall in the area where the pressure plate is. This is supposed to be a mechanism to avoid players disconnecting and then reappearing on the surface after reconnection on SMP.

Once they disconnect the pistons retract and when they reconnect, they should appear in the same place and be suffocated again.

In case, due to some server issues this won't happen and players appear on the surface, just add a BIG JUICY lava pool on top.

REPEATERS are not needed at all. I just used them to extend the redstone range and to avoid wires merging together and not working properly.

  • You can also dig down, then up and the piston blocks will not be holding anything anymore

  • I'd personally go with lava. Suffocation is slow enough that if the server has teleportation commands enabled (such as /spawn) the victim will have time to type the command and get away with many hearts to spare. Not exactly impossible to escape. In fact, one of the easiest to escape.
