Fresh evidence implicating the Church of Scientology in the mistreatment and exploitation of some of its most loyal adherents will be aired on Four Corners tonight.

The allegations come just days before an expected Senate vote on whether to launch a Parliamentary inquiry into the church.

Tonight's program, Scientology: The Ex-Files, focuses on the stories of Australians and Americans who have left the church and are now speaking out. Some are taking legal action against the church.

The men and women featured in the program belonged to Scientology's elite unit of full-time staffers, the Sea Organisation - or Sea Org.

The allegations in tonight's program include first hand accounts that some women have been coerced into having abortions because the Sea Org does not allow its members to have children while they work in the organisation; that children as young as 15 are interrogated about their sex lives, asked to work excessive hours, and punished severely if they fail to meet targets for recruiting members of the public; and that 'public' Scientologists - Scientologists who live and work in the broader community - are pressured over long periods of time into donating their life savings to the church.

The church itself denies the allegations, and is vigorously defending the legal actions which are underway in the United States.

  • guess if your gullible enough to belive there dribble then too bad...15 years of age and they used to hassle kids my age in town for surveys...i laughed and kept walkin..Guess there solving the void in peoples lives ..No shrink required

  • If only it was as simple as just being gullible. Have you ever bought someting and realised it wasn't quite what it was cracked up to be? Of course you have. Everyone has. That's makes us all capable of being gullible. Some more than others. However, cults like scientology take this to a whole new level. They use techniques, 1-on-1 to "actively find your ruin". The use a bait'n'switch formula throughout to "find" and "fix" more of your "problems". Most people do see the scam but a lot don't.

  • Hot on the heels of the critical NewYork Times article today, the shitstorm over the cult of scientology continues unabated.

This is a must see. Brace for epic.

    David Miscavge, you fail.

  • The Scientology rote response to this, the New York Times article in today's paper, and a crackerjack radio programme in San Francisco today has been a concerted effort to discredit the victims who are speaking out. They are quoting "scholars" who claim apostates cannot be relied upon.

On the other hand, a lot of abusive husbands have been put in prison thanks to testimony from battered wives.

ok? why is it so bad to call it a church and a religion?

the religions are just as full of horse shit as scientology is, except more established and generally less secretive.

just because scientology treats it's people like slaves doesn't mean it's not a religion.

my argument is no religion should get a privilege of any kind other than "freedom to practice" if the practice includes actions on their own that are against the law, that's that. but not freedom from taxes.

  • Its not a fucking church!!!! It is a bunch of assholes who stalked Gareth Cales and 9000 other kids, then sent them legal letters to their home to enturbulate their parents. It worked. And they are a bunch of assholes not a religion. We are one massive petition away from having their privilege revoked. Assholes.

  • ok. asshole, youtube gareth cales and tell me if it is OK to stalk 9000 kids with PI. Assholes.

  • youtube gareth cales and get pissed

  • scientology is a CULT it has always been a CULT. They recruit these certain celebrities because they have allot of money (to buy there expensive books and conference tapes). They also have allot of say in the community and being able to recruit new members etc. Scientology is based on science fiction philosophys and lies. Its time Australia wake up to this nonsence and abolish the church out of our country forever!

  • @AnonymousElektron It's not a religion it's a cult. Delete your account. You don't deserve to have 'Anonymous' in it.

  • You lost MF's ....CULT leaders love people that don't think !!!

  • YES, it is so enjoyable to watch the evil cult of $cientology die slowly from one thousand cuts. All of the lies and abuses are unraveling. I cannot wait to see who blows next, or which senior scifag implodes next. Payback is a bitch!
