Man, I had one of these gliders when I was 11 or 12. I took it out on a windy day once and it flew up in front of the sun -- I was blinded and couldn't see it. I heard a wooshing sound and them bam, it hit me square in the middle of the chest. It had been in a nose dive with the wind behind it, and it must have been going 40-50mph when it hit me.
I still have a pretty big scar on my sternum.

It is a miracle of engineering that the wings didn't shear off. I'm truly curious, is it made out of fucking carbon fiber or something?

holy spergin' up in here

@MagicTimeVideos It is not a toy, at first. Radio control soaring is actually a sport. Yes, there are specific rules and specific tasks and many classes of R/C soaring. And, as far as i know, dynamic soaring is only done by R/C gliders, as long as the G forces and the loads on the wing are too great for a full scale one to handle without breaking. So, it's not really a toy, and if you don't believe this, try it. You will be surprised when you fail to control a simple trainer.

@MoJoCooki Its called dynamic soaring, not thermals, you are a complete idiot, get back in your sand box and research before flaming. Also the current world record is close to 400 mph. Besides, birds are designed for efficiency and long life, these gliders are designed for fun. And fun they are two, and pay some respect to the pilot here, these gliders cost in excess of £2000, and when they crash, they crash bad. Trolling fail also.

That was awesome man!! Thanks for posting. I watched it over and over again!

@MoJoCooki Wow, could you at least do something as simple as just googling it before you make a complete ass out of yourself?
It dynamic soaring and has absolutely nothing to do with thermals.
It's a simple concept, it's real, and even birds like the albatros use it to soar great distances without ever flapping its wings.

How do you measure the speed?
put a camera on it next time lol

I agree with you that operating a radio controlled toy is a fun hobby for some that requires a unique skill set. As my previous posts clearly indicates, I don't begrudge anyone's hobby, I just don't appreciate being rick rolled by the poster of this video who, at the time of my original post, tagged this video to attract gliding and soaring enthusiasts to click on his video of a completely different hobby.
my frustration is with tom7767's delusions, not the hobby
