ETA Hoffmann Overture to Undine

Ernst Theodor Wilhelm Hoffmann (January 24, 1776 June 25, 1822), better known by his pen name E.T.A. Hoffmann (Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann), was a German Romantic author of fantasy and horror, a jurist, composer, music critic, draftsman and caricaturist. He wrote his opera 'Undine' between 1813 and 1814.
The Overture is a great example of the intermediate period between Classical and Romantic music. It resembles both Mozart (whom Hoffmann admired deeply) and for example Schubert.

The first painting shows Hoffmann, the second one shows Undine painted by John William Waterhouse in 1872.

The Radio-Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra) recorded this in 1982.
