OSAAT Naatya-Raaga 2008 Music Competition
Senior Classical category
Team # 3 presents a composition of Saint Tyagaraja "Raama nee samaanamevaru" in raga Kharaharapriya, set to Roopaka taala. Saint Tyagaraja is revered as the father of Carnatic music. A passionate devotee of Lord Rama from a young age, most of his highly inspiring and soul-stirring compositions are about Lord Rama. In this composition, Saint Tyagaraja praises Lord Rama as the peerless one, the beloved of Sita who has captured her Lord in her devotion, his brothers who are noble and whose words are like honey and finally he says how privileged he feels to have Lord Rama as his family deity.
