@blazein4life I disagree, playing by ear is fine for any level as long as you complete every step as you do in reading music.

However, I completely agree that it is counter-intuitive, and does not really teach the songs so much as create the habit of copying what is seen on the screen, like guitar hero or dancemats. And the covers are basic and made in the style of a game, not real songs. There's no opportunity to express oneself through interpretation and no urge to find one's own unique style

How dare you exploit the piano in this way. Now theres going to be idiots everywhere thinking they can play when they really cant.

Tutorials and playing by ear are okay to a certain extent, but you're not going to last long unless you know how to actually read music. People seem to forget this.

This definitely seems like a fascinating video... a fair bit of glitter, glitz, glamour, and pink/blue/purple shades going on (which makes it seem somewhat commercialized, mainstream, and fruity), but I definitely have to bow and tip my hat to the way in which all of those elements come together to construct what seems like a decent promotion... definitely hard-hitting and powerful stuff, with great use of techno and audio samples. Never played Synthesia (probably never will), but this is sick.
