how to make words fade in yt icons

ive been asked a few times how i made the words look like that in my icon heres me showing you guys how sorry if i didnt explain a whole lot tho hope it helps

but what I dont get is why not just make this animation IN photoshop cs3 i mean its a LOT simplier thean opening and closing and saving and whatnot
