AMERICAN IDOL STAR FANTASIA ATTEMPTS SUICIDE

Former American Idol winner Fantasia has been confirmed that she attempted suicide. She has been hospitalized in the Charlotte-area

A report was filed with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD, Police responded on Monday at 8:43 p.m. to a suicide attempt call from her Bevington Place.

Sources say Barrino was found in a closet at the Glynmoor Lakes neighborhood home. She was then taken to Mercy South Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville.

"Last night, Fantasia was hospitalized. She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid," manager Brian Dickens reported in a statement to WBTV.

"Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon."

Barrino was hospitalized with "possible internal injuries" after "ingesting medication." This incident was classified as "suicide/overdose."

We still don;t know if the overdose was intentional or accidental.
