One of the Register's more ambitious events took place on the evening of the 6th August. So ambitious that we enlisted the help of the Anglia Centre to make this a joint operation. This had the effect of attracting a mix of MGs from a TD through A,B & C to Midgets and dozens of F/TFs from all over the UK and even the continent.
Meeting at Simon's Diner by Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium the aim was to go over and under as many bridges and tunnels in Central London as possible. It was a remarkable feat of planning by Adrian Clifford and Dave Tynan involving many test runs as well as liaising with Police forces, local authorities and Transport for London. With just under 150 route directions all produced in Tulip form it was a real challenge for the navigators with turns coming up every 0.1 mile in places. If anyone completed the entire rally without a mistake I would be very surprised but luckily the majority of entrants did manage to reach the glowing dome of the O2 Arena by the early hours of the morning.
With around £1300 raised for the Register's charity for 2012, Help for Heroes, it was a case of very well done to all those involved in the organisation and taking part who made donations towards our total.
