@katylady1981 I couldnt agree more. I know all that has to be done before during and after because I actually am an animal professional. I also love the animal shelter but I dont believe in taking them there to be killed. My original message was about that topic. And I ment to shed light on that subject on this page. The mother has 14 puppies so what happens when you dont sell them? The thing is I know what happens. My reply had a message behind it. Try reading it another way.

@krayzeeuk740 I agree. The mama is going to have a short life and the puppies will have problems. Backyard trashy breeding is only adding health issues to animals. Pro breeders test their animals and work on improving the breeds. The only thing wrong in your post is Blacks and Fawns can be bred, but must have 4 generations of black/fawn/brindle in the pedigree. This female isn't even registered, therefore, no way they can know if this fits. Most likely, not.

@thegr8danemom Why would you think your Dane "wants" puppies? Don't breed her. Get her spayed. She'll be healthier and happier. You have to get her tested for all kinds of potential problems, be able to care for them, know the colors that are compatible. Buy or rescue a puppy or kitten for her. I have a 1 yr old Dane and she has stuffed toys that are her "babies". We're getting a kitten soon and she'll be playing mommy with it too. Leave breeding to pros. PLEASE!!

True Dane breeders only breed registered dogs. One of the goals would be to improve the breed. This involves extensive testing for eye, hip, heart, and thyroid problems in the bloodline. I'm sure you didn't pay to have that done. No professional breeder would sell puppies for $200. And why the hell were you pulling the puppies off the mom like that? They're eating and you just yank them around! Trailer trash breeders should be jailed for animal abuse. I own a Dane and this is just sad.

Someone needs to take this dog away and put it in a home that knows how to care for her. This is animal abuse. Even with 14 puppies, there is NO excuse for mama to be emaciated like this. You are another backyard breeder who has no knowledge of how to care for the mother or puppies. She should be on specialized food to stay healthy and give her pups the nourishment they need. She should have been screened for hip dysplasia and other common health problems. Leave breeding to the pros!

What beauties, so is mommy. What a good mom! We will be getting a black Great Dane in December, I am so excited! Congrats, I see those babies are about two years old now (:
