Earthquake Folkestone Kent

At around 8.19 on Saturday 28th of April an earthquake measured 4.3-4.8 Richter shook Kent. We woke up with the sound that felt like a lorry hitting your house!
Suzanne and I were in bed when she woke me up and said what is that noise? I initially thought it was something like a bird or brick falling into our chimmney!!! We had no electricity for 45 minutes and we did not what was going on...... a text message read it was a bomb! terrorist attack??? !!! It could have been lot worse.....
The earthquake that damaged nearly 500 homes in the south east corner of Britain could have been on a far bigger scale, experts said last night.

Seismologists have been expecting a quake off the Kent coast for decades and feared a repeat of fatal tremors that struck in the past and registered 5.8 on the Richter scale.

Although houses in Folkestone, Kent, were damaged by Saturday's earthquake, which measured 4.3 on the Richter scale, only one person was injured, not seriously.

Roger Musson, of the British Geological Survey, said: "We've been waiting for an earthquake to happen on this structure for a long time. I've been very concerned about getting a repeat of the 1580 earthquake. If that had happened, we would have had a death toll that would have exceeded the death toll of all British earthquakes by a factor of five -- perhaps as many as 50 dead. If that fault is true to form, then it's good news because its got that out of its system."

My dad fort he had died lmfao he had the wourst hangover in the world when it happened, i fort a car had crashed into the shop down stairs..... then i saw cracks appear in the walls. 8:30am roughly it happened, my other half at the time phoned me from hythe, it was felt down there too but i dont think they had as much damage, now 3-4 years you can still clearly see the damage in some places

i was at my ex girlfriend's place in Morrison Rd when it happened, we was both fast asleep when a bunch of wardrobe doors came crashing down on us. it was really odd seeing masses of birds flying around because they would'nt land, almost like there was gonna be an aftershock.

4.3 to 4.8?! Bull shit how does that throw bricks from buildings. The 5.5 I was in only threw things that were INSIDE the house. The outside only got some cracks. And a 5.5 IS LITTLE. Why do people say OH MY GOD THIS QUAKE WAS SO VIOLENT AND POWERFUL! Doesnt matter if the area isnt quake ready and never had a quake before a quake is a quake and the little ones are little ones. The area doesnt change the intensity.

there was 3 earthquakes on that day but they were all one after the other. (shake..shake..shake) and omg the SECOND earthquake that occured this year was so pathetic. i didnt feel it because i was sitting on a computer desk chair and my feet werent touching the ground. Everyone else in my class felt it by i didnt

the earthquake was on my dad's birthday. i woke up to the earthquake in my bedroom. my shelves fell down. i got really scared lol and i seriously thought that a lorry had driven into my house.
