Pandit Raghunath Panigrahi (born 10 August 1934) is a famous Indian classical singer and Music Director. A noted vocalist of Gita Govinda, he left a promising career in film music in Chennai, to provide vocal support in his wife, Sanjukta Panigrahi, legendary Odissi danseuse performances and also a composer.[1] He has lifetime contribution towards promoting, propagating and popularizing the life and works of Shri Jayadeva, messages of Geeta govinda and the cult of Lord Jagannatha. Raghunath Panigrahi was born on August 10, 1934 in Gunupur, Koraput, Orissa.
Sanjukta-Raghunath duo enchanted the audience for many years from the 70s till the 90s.
After the death of Sanjukta in 1997, he got associated the Nrityagram and gave music for many of their productions.[2] He formed the 'Sanjukta Panigrahi Memorial Trust', in 1999, to promote the cause of Odissi dance. Since 2001, every year on her birth anniversary, the trust has been giving away scholarships to budding dancers, and awards excellence in the field of Odissi dance

  • I have this wonderful rendition from his LP released in Mid70s! he is a brilliant artiste whose reditions are in the archives of AIR and unfortunately the then HMV did not release his redition of priye charusheele! he however has sand to his wife's dance perfromances! a truely great singer !i am so pleased to hear hinm on this site

    sang in the raag mohanam! ( is it yaman in hindustani music?)

  • Very very smooth voice and a great rendition from the great "Geeta Govinda" the pride literature from Orissa India, Which depicted the Leelas of Shri Krishna. Can you please upload more of these. As I dont understand Odissi, i did enjoy thoroughly the first part. Thank you for uploading this beautiful piece.
