This shows the difference in Exposure settings in daylight using the ContourHD1080p.

The first few seconds show the results of overexposing. The rest of the video compares -4 and +0 Exposure settings. In this situation, even the +0 setting overexposes the sky, water reflection and bright objects. However, the -4 setting obscures shaded areas. A -2 setting may have been ideal for this scene.

  • I'm considering doing that. The ContourHD1080p has a Gain setting as well.

  • Nice comparison. I am looking for optimal settings for mountain biking in the woods. I will be trying center metering, since I want the trail to show up the best and I don't care if I blow out the sky. Thinking of +1 on exposure too. Now that about 50% of the leaves are down, it will probably be easier to get more even lighting. Thanks.

  • Very informative video, thanks!
