Emergency 911
Public education video by Toronto Police Service Corporate Communications Social Media to inform the public what official Toronto Police Service police officer badges and warrant card identification cards look like. The video was made after a number of elderly victims were approached in the Church Street | Alexander St area of Toronto by a 65 year old man posing as a police officer, then robbing citizens of the money in their wallets during the early days of July, 2011. An arrest was made in the case. During the course of the investigation Corporate Communications Media Relations Officer Constable Tony Vella made arrangements to interview some community members to educate the community about what official Toronto Police Service badges look like, and to ensure community members that it is ok to call Toronto Police Service to confirm the identity of person showing police ID.
A number of the victims in the incident were reluctant to come forward to police. The Toronto Police Service wish the public to be aware that if anyone feels as they may have been victimized to contact police and report the circumstances, as personation of a police officer is a criminal offence in Canada that is taken very seriously by Toronto Police.

Nice to see the Toronto police is doing their job responsibly and respectfully. Unfortunately the Durham Regional Police isn't doing so well, any time I have ever asked any questions, especially pertaining to their ID badge number, ect. I end up getting told to get out of the car and never get an answer, then I call to make a complaint after this happening several times and they tell me theres nothing they can do. I've heard from many people similar experiences. THUMBS UP TO TORONTO POLICE!

Glad to see that people are learning and denying these fools in trying to impersonate police officers. Good video!
