The world is full of ridiculous "survival" tools. But these aren't them. Growing out of the "Companion" card tools, the company ToolLogic has expanded into making some interesting multi-function knife designs. Their upsides are well-designed and perfectlysized blades, lightweight, quality construction, fast deployment, tight lockup, good clip, and useful features. The piggyback tool design is well executed in polymer and it just works. All this at a very reasonable price. Downsides might be lack of ultimate strength, a lower quality 420J2 SS, and coarse serrations. However for a mere $20 to $25 the ToolLogic SL blades can make for useful EDC blades with additional features that might come in handy.

  • By the way, you forgot to mention that the little triangular cut-out on a very beginning of the "fire"-blade is to be used on flint so that you don't abuse the cutting part of the knife.

  • My Brother got me a Tool Logic SL2 for xmas, Id never heard of these folks before, my bro read some reviews on t'interweb and thought "that'll make a nice gift"! Well, at first I wasn't too sure about it but once i held it and had a lil play around I found myself thinking that this lil tool will come in well handy as part of my Hiking/camping daysack. The blade is literally Razor sharp and the additional torch, firesteel and whistle combo will prove to be a great space saving idea. 5 star item.

  • i have this knife and i was thinking yesterday i wonder if nutn would use something like this well i guess we would

  • thank you!

  • Great video review since I just bought the sl2 and the sl3 yesterday at rei and I'm trying to decide which to keep? I like the longer firesteel or the sl2 but I like the light on the sl3 so I'm hoping I can combine the two favorite parts into one and still have room for an extra set of batteries. Are the knives made in japan better than the ones being shipped from china or visa//versa?? Thanx...Laurie

  • Some things I'd like to add to this review:

For the earlier knives in this line they got very sloppy if you used it for say carving a pipe which I did and it was a bitch to tighten back up but the later version I got my hands on had steel liners and that knife is very tight.

Also I'd like to point out that the knife is very comfortable in your hand for extended use even though you wouldn't think so at first glance.

  • Nice review, thanks mate. I want one!

  • SOG now owns ToolLogic.

  • i have the sl3 i LOVE it

  • if this was a triple a battery flashlight and maybe like a spyderco blade then it would be perfect

  • Rip rather than tear lolz 3.38.

  • u can take the entire back off (compartment) to make it lighter with the big screw on the left side.
