It's a shame really. I personally prefer the stop motion as it had actual film props instead of the computerized garbage in Transformers or those other stupid super hero movies. The gunshot wounds in Robocop 1 and 2 are terrific, Verhoeven and Kershner seemed to have doubled up on the blood packets, lol.

I still find this very disturbing, taking a human mind and putting in a machine. Who knows what kind of incredible torture that may feel like- hence the murderous and suicidal reactions.

Blanks are more expensive. They're pretty evil, so I'm guessing hiring a new scientist or two reads in the books as a salary slash, too.

Not like anyone can program A.I. to be remotely useful in this world, anyway.

That's because back then they used stop motion, which was basically live action clips edited together to give the illusion of movement. That took a lot more time and effort. Now it is all computer graphics which takes away the realism. Cheaper too.
