Good woman, show em' how it's done!

Thanks, Joy! I am glad that there are others who agree with my position on this! Spanking IS hitting. I know, some of you have lived through it (so have I), but this is NOT a reason to continue this.

- it teaches them not to do it again?

That sounds like an over simplified characterization of what spanking really is...
..Example:.
In the adult world, if someone tries to invade a country and take their oil, they should be dealt with by using force... Spanking executed correctly, would be somewhat similar to that, but on a smaller scale... (If a child grabs a little girls toy, and pushes her down, he deserves a spanking)

Your posting sounds so judgmental...
It's not just you though..I can think of someone else that advocated senseless/inhumane sterilization... His name was Adolf Hitler
Spanking is not about "hitting" to get ones point across..It is to be meted out by a mature adult in instances when the child engages in behaviour that endagers the health and/or well-being of themselves or others...
Behar made the common mistake of equating spanking with abuse or intemperate violence......

@BabyGirlGoddess I was just thinking that.

@TexDad1971 I figured ya were. Just thought I'd add to it. :-)

@MONIQUEIJ lol for all the stuff that kid is GONNA do.
She's absolutely right! Any form of domestic corporal punishment teaches kids that hitting is an acceptable way to get your point across. If you're not smart enough to teach your kids proper behavior without hitting them, then you should be sterilized.

@JezzieLS, EXCELLENT POINT... "what does hitting your child teach them? that when you get angry or mad at someone you can hit them and everything will be alright?"
