This was Geroku performing on the UK television "Hippodrome Show" from the 1980s (I remember this vaguely - what a train spotter !). Crazy & unique act, which is actually over 100 years old as I believe that it was first performed by a German artist called Laroche in the 1890s. Laroche's daughter then performed the act during the 1930s and it has also been copied (in various forms) by several artists since, including a British woman called Jane Brent in the 1940s & 50s. Geroku retired a few years ago after performing the globe & helter skelter act for over 20 years, all over the world. It would be great to see this difficult & impressive routine revived and updated - maybe a perspex/plexiglass globe, taller track or a smaller globe (if that it possible) ?. I first saw this on the BBC Paul Daniels Magic Show & was surprised ! Please advise if I have infringed any copyrights with this clip and I will remove the clip immediately. If any performers are watching this clip and would be intrigued to revive the act, then please let me know as I would like to help in any possible way. Thanks.
Andy,
having viewed this and the other clip the thing that strikes me is the sheer effort required...
