Great vid. the A-1 jocks were true heros, they just stood their ground and took all that the VC threw at them then made sure they had supper that night, and not the bad guys.
I don't know what are you talking about to me skyrider is a beauty, raw, brutal and pure power. Yes not elegant, but with a huge surplus of muscles that push it squared body through the air as hot knife through a butter. This is my dream to fly one day this great bird of prey!!!!!
There is no good reason, to not have something like an A1 in service right now. Call it a HUGE turboprop, or even a 2 turboprop version. She could take off and land on LHA, and with that enormous payload and hull space, there is all kinds of clever missions for her. She'd be a crewman's paradise.
Not the 'prettiest' aircraft ever designed .. but one of the favourites amongst the people who really count .. the aviators, pilots, aircrew & ground-support team. Pound-for-pound as a ground-attack 'heavy', it packed one hell of a punch, ordnance-wise. And it could absorb plenty of punishment & still get the crew home. Probably the last of the 'great' prop-driven war-bird designs.
