Stupenda!!!

oh yes Elena Obratzova was absolutley and completely underrated and underestimated and underappreciated always for her gifts

@xafnndapp La Scala is notorious for it's bad treatment of artists, which is sometimes deserved and other times not. The loggionisti there can be especially difficult, and their approval/disapproval is not always based on the quality of the performance.

I love Shirley Verrrett, but this role is a mistake, This sounds like work for her.. The tessitura of some of this is high and very difficult...She was an astounding singer however.

@fullbuck50 opera fans can be cruel...

@xafnndapp That's horrible -she cried on stage? Kills me to think of that. So cruel.

@TreblesBasses This is a trio... not an aria. The trio is called Della citta all´ocasso".

@raymzi I was there. She was booed yes, but apparently from a group of Callas widowers, because she had said in an interview that Callas' high notes were not that good...
Same thing happened few months later when during a recital (always at la Scala) when she sang "Una voce poco fa", someone from the galleria shouted "Leave Rossini in peace!" and she began to cry on stage....!
