They just dont make good movies like this anymore, its a damn shame! Hollywood is full of so much garbage now, our aviators and troops do not receive the deserved respect.

Gutts Men and Women really saved the day,...not like some half smart Hollywood stars of today.

I was talking to a German woman and asked what town she was from. She said Hamburg.I didn't say it but I thought "Hamburg,my neighbour bombed that in 43".Only 1 of a class of 100 of his class to survive,

God I love this movie

Great acting in this classic. Next time you watch the movie, take notice of the extremely
long performances without an edit/stop. They go for ages remembering their lines. Should have won the Oscar.

Along with movie greats "Hell to Eternity" and "The Dambusters", "12 O'Clock High" presented war as reality and what all who served sacrificed whether they returned or not. Although a movie, his meeting with crews when he said,"forget going home, consider yourself dead already" had to be a bucket of ice water on them. Thanks again Bomberguy.

@TheDepotCat Mantz Aviation did takeoff scene alongside B-36 in Strategic Air Command and flew through billboard in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Always wondered if they experienced any B-36 wash and vortexes so close to it.

This movie and the War Lover with Steve McQueen were top notch in my book. It was all volunteer crews. All you had to say was, I quit!! Nobody ever did!!. No aetheists in this bunch. A tough bunch of guys who lived in stark fear at all times. Maybye it did'nt always show, but it was there!!.

Thanks for the post - if you can, please post the whole film. Terrific movie with Gregory Peck at his best! I can't think of a film where he gave a bad performance - each was always first rate. The true gentleman actor and I think this is one of his best films (along with "To Kill a Mockingbird").
