Jackson C Frank, whose most famous composition 'Blues Run The Game', was an American folk singer, active on the London folk scene during the 60's; he was friends with Simon and Garfunkel, also performing at the same Soho clubs. He also had a close relationship with Sandy Denny, who performed some of his songs, as well as her folk and Dylan repertoire. This is one of the first videos i made, though initially i had problems with the sound, now resolved.

  • his one album, produced by paul simon, set the standard for singer-songwriters some 43 years ago and it has yet to be equalled.

  • Thanks for the information dlanodrelda, this particular track came from the 'Anthems in Eden' boxset which has lots of other folk gems on it. I'll be checking out Jackson's album :)

  • quite a song this is, wait until you hear the whole album...assume you have some nick drake, such as "pink moon".

  • Thanks maida.. and yes i LOVE Nick Drake's music.. but thanks for the recommendation anyway, one never knows where the next musical magic may crop up, so it's good to be illuminated about new/old stuff!! :)

  • What an amazing lyricist and song writer. stunning metaphor of this life and the "carnival" characters and "games" we all face.Jackson is KING!!!

  • @dlanodrelda Have you heard of a guy named B. Dylan ?

  • An original Jackson C Frank vinyl costs so effin expensive nowadays! zzz O_O

  • he had a tortured life going back to the fire which took several of his classmates in elementary school and left him burned and disfigured.... he left us these treasures which i play over and over and over again, and he provides a direct link to Sandy and Nick Drake and introspective greatness.. i treasure the note he wrote to me in the early 1990s which touched on his music and life's challenges.

  • @ageladopaido ...I am!! I love that version, but cannot find it on youtube! :(

  • Just caught Bert Janansch perform this song last night while he opened for Neil Young in Winnipeg, What a gem of a song. Bert mentioned to the audience to pick up a copy of Jackson's album if one had the chance. The hunt begins!!!
