@logcabinlooms Yes...I shot mine with and without the bayonet and the difference was amazing. It hit about 8" up and 6" left of the bullseye without, and dead on with. I'm gonna go to the range tomorrow and do some tests and record it, hopefully I can make some good determinations.

I suspect that the difference in point of impact, be it great or small, is mostly the result of the way the barrel is bedded (or not) out towards the front of the stock.

Interesting, I picked up a westinghouse m91 last weekend there is a big gun show by me this weekend I know i will find some m91/30's I may get one or two. what years of production do you have. I have a 26, and a 30 hex I think i am going to get a few round receiver ones with mid war dates

I do suspect that the loose fitting bayonet was a factor. At least I have noticed that before, I don't beleive its a wieght issue, but more of a harmonic effect caused by the bayonet behaveing like a tuneing fork. If you ever watch the bayonet in slow motion you can see the harmonics involved, a loose bayonet disrupts the harmonics, a tight fitting bayonet enhances them. It would be interesting if some one with the right video equipment would attempt this.

@logcabinlooms Dad's new 91/30 shot very poor with and without the bayonet so I think the bore is way over sized.
