Bowers are an extremely useful advanced pushup variation that I use quite a bit with my stronger athletes.

An article detailing their performance and a recommended progression for developing Bowers is available here: http://gymnasticbodies.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=418

The Xtreme Rings which have been used to build much of this athlete's strength are available here:

  • Yes, however I was calling them "Bowers" for years with my athletes, long before they started to be called 90 degree pushups.

  • Is there any tips for someone who is going from normal exercises - weight training - in the gym, to this?

  • The GymnasticBodiesdotcom forum is filled with thousands and thousands of tips :)

  • Hey Coach. I'm a 39 year old guy and just started enjoying ring training (I know, i know, everyone sez im too old but i like it anyway) . I just want to say that thanks to these videos it has helped quite a bit in being fit in a different way.

  • 39 years old is just beginning. Currently the oldest GB Forum member is 69 and is performing front levers, back levers and working on iron crosses. He says is his in training for being 70! His secret? Calm, patient, progressive training.
