Plenary Session
Achieving a Breakthrough in Food Security and Economic Growth: the Agriculture Corridor

Liberalization and globalization in agriculture products has opened many new opportunities for India, with near self-sufficiency in agricultural inputs, low costs of labor and its diverse agro climatic profile supporting a wide range of agricultural export products. From the standpoint of food security, the most important initiative India has embarked on is Agriculture Corridor. This session threw light on one of India's most auspicious and audacious attempts to make this initiative another green revolution and how this could be relevant to both public and private sectors of Japan.

The highlight of the session was the announcement of "Smart-Agriculture and Knowledge Corridor" for India by Vibhav Kant Upadhyay, Founder & Director General, IJGPS and Chairman, India Center Foundation, India who gave a general overview of the proposed initiative of the Agriculture Corridor.

Expounding its distinctive features, i.e., focus on the 5 Ps, which are policy, processing, packaging, preservation, and power, he explained how this corridor covering approximately 51% of the total geographical area of India could bring in a second green revolution for India.
