  • ok...it's REGGAE and not REGGAY

  • Check out the link to the myspace and the project. It is a history project on reggae. The first spellings of the word were like "regay", "reggay," like in the first songs to use the word in the title, the Maytals' "Do the Reggay." We are referencing this history!

  • :) ha ha, nah the military/band bass and snare drums are European, as is the marching/procession form and the general idea of the set dances (quadrille). But the musical sensibility is mostly African type. Listen through

    In the end, the forms are neither European or African -- they're Jamaican! wait, I thought Ancient Egypt was the source of all knowledge? :)
