this is pointless, a waste of effort. SATA cables are neat as is.

I bought some already pre made and the sleeves came out of the rubber that holds it in.. I'm so pissed off they cost me £15 per cable.. -.-

you will need Cold Cathode Tube that has Back Light function.

how much mm is the heat sleeling that you used on the sata cable

if you want a nice fitting. should get 12mm rubber shrinks.. as mine are 10mm thats why needed to stretch them.
if you are talking about the actual sleeve, they are 6mm.

Something you could do isntead of using the lighter is the rear of the tip of a soldering iron. It works great.
