@vlotjah How about Josef Lhevinne--the name speaks for itself, no other needed.
-
Such a presence ! Noble and singing. Not harsh or military like many others.
-
for brassmonkey: he was a concert pianist and much more; where have you been?
-
Superior interpretations to Rubinstein and Horowitz! Amazing playing.

This amateur is not bad... Why didn't he pursue a career as a concert pianist? I guess when you happen to come during the golden age of piano -with the likes of Horowitz and ect ect ect ect- well I can see why you wouldn't dare to try and compete!
Still this guy is amazing! Just came in the wrong time. ironically, if he was alive today he'd be considered one of the best... Cause this is the lead age of piano.... lol

James Huneker said of the 3rds. "It is either technique heightened to sorcery or it is nothing but notes."
Lhevinne and Slenczynska are sorcerers.

this is a very good interpretation, however the best one is Arrau's
-
He was not only a pianist,he also was very good musician and he play not just notes like everybody on youtube!he play philosophy.
His technique was godly.

The best interpretation of this famous etude. He played it in a very romantic sense. Absolutely old master playing.
So many excellent pianists just don't get the publicity they deserve.

I wish someone had locked him up in a studio those days, and let him record everything he could play.
Any suggestios for a nick-name?
High-priest of pianism? (Liszt will be the pope then..)
Or the King of the keys? (Oh no, that's vulgair)
Just think of something.
