So unfortunately our time in Samarkand came to an end all too quickly. We had to move on. This is our last journey through that wonderful town. We were sad, very sad to leave

Its a great place to visit. We really enjoyed our time there. We regretted having to leave. The people are wonderful and friendly and made us feel right at home. If you can get back, I recommend it, although it has probably changed much in 42 years.

statue @ 1:36 should be the Amir Timur statue, if my memory serves it right. I really miss my hometown Samarkand, haven't visited back since 2004.

Sir, the statue you were asking about (in 1:29) is indeed TEMUR/Tamerlane or Amir Temur. I believe that the taxi driver didn't get your question, regardless I really appreciate the video you've uploaded! CHEERS!
