They won't be able to put that out, 1,800 degree's boiling the water, Bring on the scolding hot oil rain

Burning petro on the water or in your car, there's no difference guys? If you are so worried about the air, stop driving your cars. Globally these fires are very small compared to say like a volcano spitting millions of tons of gases and material into the atmosphere. Think about it. Yes they are controlled within a 3M fire boom under close watch.
Comparing surface to subsurface procedures are you serious? Do you have any idea what it takes to break and make flanges underwater a mile deep?

This oil disaster seems very "convenient" for obama to now justify a global carbon tax or some similar global tax. I would not be surprised if obama was the cause of this.
The US will no longer become oil independent and be reliant on world oil controlled by the Middle East oil producers. The Middle East will now also continuing buying US debt to fund obama's TRILLIONS in annual over-spending.
Honestly, it is sad that Americans are becoming poorer because of higher taxes and inflation.

SUCK IT AL GORE!

Now if it was just that simple... Don't forget TRANSOCEAN is the driller and HALLIBURTON - BP own the well. EXXON and Shell et al ALL do deepwater drilling

The BLOB - Black Liquid Oil Barrels. I think it's time to give this spill it's own name, like they do hurricanes. I saw the movie "the blob" and it kept getting bigger and bigger and killing everything in it's path, so I nominate this as the name.

@weiss27md It would be infinitely better to pollute the air. No one is saying yet that this could be the beginning of the end of life as we know it. The ecosysyem begins and ends with the estuaries, and if they are actually wiped out, it's almost impossible to measure the impact on the environment. I'm feeling pretty much like a dinosaur watching a comet coming right at me.

It seems like "control" is the wrong word to be useing.

BP has failed almost everything lately. Should we be letting them do this. I can imagine this campaign going wrong, and you can too. BP is incompetent.
Still asking, Why cant BP unbolt the riser pipe stub at the BOP flange and then bolt an open valve onto the BOP where the riser stub was.Its just 6 bolts in the flange,if you cant unbolt 6 bolts and bolt a new open valve on then close it you should not be drilling a mile underwater. Its a simple process on ground and should be doable underwater. Its not rocket science to unbolt and rebolt a flange. With the "new" high def video it looks simple enough to do..

So just put the pollution in the air instead of the water?
