This motion tracker prop replica has a blinking display screen that simulates the radar effect seen on screen.
The sonar pulse sound and warning pings simulate the sound effects used in the movie when aliens were detected by the device.
The brownish green finish faithfully replicates the look of the movie prop.
The motion detector replica measures approximately 9 high x 7 wide x 11.5 deep.
The custom designed display case has a black base and acrylic dust cover and measures approximately 12 long x 12 wide x 13 high.

In the 1986 sequel to Alien, Lieutenant Ellen Ripley is discovered in deep space by a salvage ship 57 years after narrowly escaping with her life - and her cat. When she is taken back to Earth, she learns that a human colony was founded on the planet where the aliens were first found. After contact with the colony is lost, she finds herself sent back to the planet along with a team of Space Marines bent on destroying the alien menace forever, and saving any survivors. During their life or death struggle they utilized some of the most sophisticated military equipment ever seen in a movie at that time. The motion tracker used ultrasonic waves and a small display screen to locate and track the vicious aliens. This ultramodern apparatus played a key role in the film as Ripley and the marines struggled to stay ahead of the cunning aliens.

The original filming prop was made from numerous unrelated items cleverly combined to create a futuristic-looking device. The body of the prop is a hammer drill casing and the display screen housing is a German slide viewer. A transformer from a race car set, miniature pump housing, and miscellaneous camera accessories were used to provide interesting details to the device. Shots of the motion tracker display screen seen in the film were actually close-ups of a television monitor. At the time the movie was filmed, the technology to build a working monitor small enough to fit in the prop was not readily available to prop designers. This simple, but highly-effective, camera trick was used to give the appearance that the 2.75 monitor in the prop was actually functional.

Upon close examination of hundreds of stills from the movie our designers discovered that there were several motion tracker props used in filming that varied slightly in detail. Master Replicas designers located all of the components that were used to construct the original prop which added a remarkable level of authenticity to our replica. Using detailed reference photos supplied by 20th Century Fox along with the advice of recognized experts in the history and lore of the Alien saga they have produced a replica that best depicts the prop you see on screen.
