On the violent streets of Eastlands Nairobi -- the slums, the ghettos, the poor and the corrupt -- a new rapper grew to be known as Goreala. Metaphor za Mtaa is his second release, succeeding the popular demo 1961. It is a testimony of life in modern day African cities. Metaphor za Mtaa is a collaboration of the Kenyan rappers Goreala and Projekt with French DJ BoulaOne. It was conceived and recorded in the ghetto studio Ragz2Records, especially founded to nurture talent from the ghettos. The studio develops the artistic quality of the artists and creates visibility around the issues of slum life. The songs talk of survival, crime, paid love and politics of street. They highlight the hardship of living life under the poverty line; they push for positive thinking about Africa's youth and they advocate change. All proceeds of Metaphor za Mtaa will go to the rappers, studio and social projects that help slum youth earn a decent living. This summer Goreala will tour with French band Piece of Salaam, BoulaOne and Projekt. A hip hop live show with live band, scratching and video. Metaphor za Mtaa an Ragz2Records are projects of Foundation UpToYouToo from the Netherlands.
On sunday the 9th of september Goreala launched his new album in his first European concert at Club Bitterzoet in Amsterdam. DJ Boulaone and Piece of Salaam came over from France to join them. Also check the freestyle with upcoming Dutch rapper Typhoon. More info at www.uptoyoutoo.org
